Participation in Practice: The Ways We Engage
Over the last few series, I’ve had a few people reach out after reading, asking what participation actually looks like in everyday life. With that, I want to first say thank you. For reading, for thinking about it, and for being willing to ask the question in the first place. My goal is for you to be thinking with me, rather than me talking at you.
So what is participation? It doesn’t have to be big or visible, and the it starts with caring. Asking questions. Supporting others. Paying attention. Choosing to be part of what you want to see around you.
I am always observing what’s going on around me, locally, nationally, around the world. Noticing how much the way we choose to show up, especially in everyday conversations, shapes our the communities around us. I’ll be sharing a few reflections on that in the next couple of weeks and hope I can introduce you to think about the ways you can show up, without having to worry about time, money, or whether you ‘know enough’. Every single one of us needed for a connected and strong community, we don’t always we need to agree on it, but we all need to start with caring about how we do it.
If you’ve been following along, thank you. If you’re new here, this is still a good place to jump in.
